“Power“ is a topic which is mostly avoided in professional life – it is a taboo issue. Everybody is aware of the fact that power and influence in organisations are a big issue – related to or without managerial responsibility – but ”you” do not talk about it. Why is that?
Is it really bad to have power, to use it, to practise it in order to convince and prevail? Where do “abuse of power“ and destructive “power games“ begin? How can I get out of idle situations, if the other one just wants to be right using unfair means?
Many professionals and executives think they do not have any “power“. Is that right? How can I convince my colleagues, my superior or the management of a plan or a project – even if I do not have any formal powerbase?
In this seminar we will have a more nuanced look at the issue of power and give it a clear structure – without any taboos. You will get the chance to reflect on different ”sources of power“ and to realise their meaning for you personally. You will sharpen your ability to identify different types of conversational partners and to use different strategies of persuasion.
You will try different ways how to get out of unpleasant situations and “power games“. You will reflect when and how you want to and can practice power and influence and when you refrain from it deliberately. Sharpen your awareness, widen your repertoire of communication and behaviour and get target-oriented acceptance for yourself and your interests – as an executive but also if you do not have any formal powerbase, e.g. as a project supervisor.
