You are just organising your first business trip to Russia? Your Russian business partners have announced their visit in Germany? You would like to initiate contacts with buyers and traders from Russia on a trade fair? In today’s globalised and linked-up world this is no problem. However, the opening of the global markets does not mean that there are no cultural specifics anymore. Many aspects of the Russian culture – from non-verbal communication to the way to express their feelings – seem outlandish for us, sometimes funny, sometimes almost threatening. The risk to misunderstand a Russian business partner, to misinterpret his behaviour and, most of all, to react in a non-adequate way, is high, even if English is used as a language of communication on both sides. For tourists it may just be a funny or (un)pleasant experience; business people, however, depend on a smooth way of communicating with their foreign partners right from the start.
The goal of this practice-oriented seminar is to sensitise participants for Russian characteristics. You will learn how to handle everyday situations appropriately and to interpret typical patterns of the Russians and their non-verbal communication precisely. That way you will avoid faux pas and blunder, be it in negotiations or at a business dinner with Russian partners
